Coffee is my friend

I love coffee. I tried to convince my sister to pick up the habit, but she said hot drinks make her think of curling up on the couch. Well, that and she's Mormon. But I say hey, everyone needs a vice. For some it is (continuous air quotes) being-hooked-on-electronic-forms-communications- that- you- make-your-69-year-old-mother-join-even-though-you-know-she-will-never-really-get-into-them. For others it is Dunkin' Donit's and hazelnut creamer. Yeah BABY! I love the smell of morning breath and coffee.

Teenage Girls

Teenage girls are a challenge. I know I will have fun dealing with my two little ladies when they hit the wonderful 'pre-teen' years. We'll have endless discussions about make-up, nail polish, piercings, boys, and clothes. I welcome it all, but it still makes me nervous.
I don't want to be "uncool" in my fashion (ie mom jeans). I also don't want to stunt any kind of hair trends. Goodness knows my mom tried to get me to 'knock down' my wall of bangs in the 80's. They looked ridiculous, but if I didn't have that crazy hair I would have missed a great opportunity to laugh at myself and my many other fashion choices.
I have experienced the new kind of teen fashion and it scares me! Skin tight pants (no matter what size the young lady) fake nails, shiny lip gloss, gold clothing, short shirts, short skirts, heels, boots, fishnet stockings...
These young girls look too suggestive.
On a lighter note, one friend told her teen daughter. "If you wear that you will look like a street walker!" When her girl asked what that was she said, "you know a prostitute." He daughter replied with a groan and then "WHY DO PROSTITUTES GET ALL THE GOOD CLOTHES?!"

Thank Goodness for Play Food

I think my kids could entertain themselves for hours with wooden and plastic play food. They pack lunches and cook dinner, go on picnics and serve everyone in the room. As they do this the baby eats all the plates and chews on everything they have left in their wake! Meanwhile, I can chat with my sister and veg after a good workout. "My life is goooood". Nacho Libre. (That was so Michael Scott) lol
So mom bought the kids sticker books that have activities. Mr. C has been crazy for his, but unfortunately after moving each sticker approximately 1000 times they are covered in dog hair and ripped to shreds. As I hugged my husband I had to pick about 3 off his back and I pried one out of H's hair. Stickers are so amazing to a 3 year old.
Stickers and plastic cookies could solve a lot of problems.

Gotta Love Them Hives

Wow, I knew it had been a while, but THREE MONTHS! I have been so disorganized. As soon as I start to catch up on one thing two other things pop up! I guess I haven't written since I 'got the hives'.
I woke up to my handsome husband saying "Man, you've been scratching all night"! I was covered from head to toe with huge bumps. Some of my larger bumps had small bumps on them. It was hideous! I had no choice but to call my doctor's office.
By the time I arrived (with three kids) my hives were gone, but the nail marks were everywhere. I found out I was 25 lbs over fat, and my blood pressure was out of control! As a result of this wonderful (initial) visit I had to stop nursing my baby, lose weight, had an EKG, kidney & thyroid tests, and try three different drugs before I found one that worked. Anyhow, it made for a very very very eventful Christmas and New Year. I am glad it is in the past. Plus there is nothing like the threat of death to help you get in shape!

Take out!

I love Fridays for many many reasons. The house is clean so I don't have to worry about it over the weekend. My big girl goes to ballet. My husband is home for two days. We play games when the kids go to bed. AND I don't cook dinner. Friday is take out night. This evening we will be partaking of a fine selection from Outback Steak House! Yummy. We order it carside to go so we don't have to force the kids to stay in their seats and we can actually chew our food and talk. I like to serve the kids first and then stick them in front of a movie. Then my man and I sit down to an adult meal where food is chewed and drinks are sipped directly in front of us. You know, instead of off to the side in an attempt to keep it from being spilled by a quick little arm.
I also like to eat my food instead of sharing it with everyone at the table. My smallest peanut loves to mmmmmmmmmm about every piece of food on my plate and squeal until I give her something! lol It is cute, but I have needs. I need my baked potato all to myself from time to time. I need to chew my food, not just inhale it so that it doesn't get dumped all over the floor. Every once in a while I need to eat a meal without saying sit down, chew with your mouth closed, just try it you may like it, or my favorite-quit making that face about my cooking.
After all, there are starving children in the world that would love to eat your dinner!

I love facebook!

I was lost in everyday life & missed my blog, but facebook sucked me in. I couldn't help myself. It is so fun to find friends even if you don't 'talk' or even write to them. It is just nice to know they are there if I wanted to contact them.
Some of the pictures blew my mind. Some Friends lost TONS of weight, some look exactly the same with better hair (I graduated during BIG HAIR) and the rest look old, while I haven't aged a day. One girl has been at the same job for 16 years! Hello. That means since we were 16. (I am only 32). Seriously, I worked at a clothing store named Sunshine Blues when I was 16 and then as a checker at a grocery store later that year. If I was still at either one I would probably go out to the bar every Thursday for wing night, have a wall-o-bangs and still tight roll my white tapered pants. Yipes! lol
Some people are still livin' the single life, but most are married with kids and seem stable. My favorite people are the ones that join just to look like they have 'friends'. Having 289 'friends' on facebook doesn't make you popular. It makes you a stalker! You basically ask everyone that went to the same school as you to be your friend. Imagine that in the caf. "Hey, we go to the same school, want to be my friend because we go to the same school? We have so much in common. Did I mention I want you to be my friend?" You would run the other way.
Luckily, there is an ignore option. I find that much nicer than the NO button. I am currently ignoring a very popular girl I went to school with. She has almost 400 friends. She wouldn't be a good friend, she is spread too thin. I would need her to invest more time in our friendship.

Motherhood rocks!

I am so crazy about #3!!!!!! Words cannot express the love I have for her. I see both H & C when I look at her! 'my life is gooooood'
